But what are the rules about flying with CBD? Let’s take a look:
What is CBD?
Before we dive in, let’s talk about what CBD actually is. CBD is a non-addictive compound called a cannabinoid found in the hemp plant. To be crystal-clear, CBD is different from THC, which is a psychoactive compound found in the marijuana plant. Some CBD contains THC, but Beam products are hemp-based and always contain absolutely no THC.
Inside our bodies, we have what’s called an endocannabinoid system, which is designed specifically to work with cannabinoids. This system is like a highway of communication between our brain and our body that maintains homeostasis. It deals with things like our digestive system, stress, inflammation, aches and pains, and sleep. When life puts us out of balance, that communication highway can suffer. CBD molecules act like mechanics, fixing all the potholes and bumps and cracks in the communication highway, so that our brain is better able to keep our body in balance. This is why CBD can be so helpful during travel.
Can I Fly With CBD Within the U.S.?
Yes. Hemp-based CBD (which always has less than 0.3 percent THC) has been legal in the U.S. since 2018, so flying with it domestically isn’t a problem. Just check to make sure your CBD products are hemp-based and free of THC.
Pro tip: Before you leave for the airport, make sure your CBD follows the rest of the TSA guidelines. For example, if your CBD comes in a tincture, it’s considered a liquid, so make sure it’s less than 3 ounces.
Can I Fly With CBD Outside of the U.S.?
Mostly yes, but different countries have different rules, and some are very strict about bringing hemp products across their borders.
